ODBD Challenge

Our Daily Bread Design Challenge for April is all about insects.  Instead of using the creep crawly insect I choose the beautiful butterfly for my card below.  I first dry embossed the card with Sizzix insects and then colored using Distress Ink.  Once the colors had been laid down I sprayed it with Perfect Pearls to add some shimmer.  Next I cut the large vellum tag from Stampin Up, embossed the sentiment and added some embellishments.  I'll be sending this one to Operation Write Home.  It is one of my favorite cards I've made so far.  Thanks for stopping by.

Day 2:  More Faux Techniques

Another technique presented was faux layered die cuts.  This was an intriguing design concept that took a couple of tries before I created a card I liked.  It pays to follow directions, I ruined the first card because I didn't splash the dye on the card stock before starting to assemble the card.  After another try or two I read the directions one step at a time and did it exactly as written.  The card below is my finished card.  I am sure I will be using this design tool frequently, I love how it turned out.

Day two of the class consisted of more examples of faux designs.  I like the new format of the class, first day teaching the techniques and the second a follow up day with more examples.  I am learning so much and hope to share more with you as the next couple of weeks go by.

On Line Card Class: Clean and Simple 3

I am taking another On-Line Card Class; this one is Clean and Simple 3.  I am enjoying learning new techniques to use on my cards.  Most of the cards are for Operation Write Home so our troops can write home to their family and friends.  Todays class used faux techniques to create embellishments that look like metal medallions.  It adds a certain "class" to the card with a bit of dimension.   The two large hearts with hearts in the middle are copper embossed and then stamped with a heart outline stamp.  You can see the "metal" better in person than in the picture.

Dressed Up Marci Birthday Card

June 12, 2013 was my niece's 30th birthday and I wanted to make her a special card.  I chose Dress Up Marci stamp from La La Land Crafts and colored her with my Copic markers.  I then Placed her on an embossed oval with dimensional tape to make her pop.  Adding flowers, pearls and lace added class to the card. Aahhh a special card for a special young and beautiful woman.

Easter Sunday

He has risen!  Blessing to you and your family.  I spent the day with my family (hubby, Zack, mom, sister and brother).  I cooked the ham, potatoes, vegetables, and desert and took it to my mom's for our Easter feast.  It was yummy and consumed quickly, not a lot of left overs.  After enjoying the Duke/Louisville basketball game we got down to business. . .Euchre!  My brother, Chuck, and I against my hubby and mom.  Chuck and I started out slow, loosing the first game, but we came back to take games two and three.  A little while latter we were joined by my brother. Roy, and sister-in-law, Karen.  Chatted and then time to head home (Zack had a migraine).  Although the weather was dreary we had a great day!  Love getting together with family and wish those not able to join us a very rejoiceful Easter.

Pattern Play Day 4

Exceptional class, loving all of the inspiration, tips and cards shown in this class.  Pattern Play for day 4 included white washing bright patterns to tone them down, using smaller pieces of pattern paper and adding embellishment to them and using one piece of patterned paper as the card base.  I chose using small pieces of patterned paper cut into shapes.  It was fun trying to figure out how to arrange the pieces and what ones to use.  I went for various sizes of circles and created a Thank You card.  Only one more day of class unless we get a bonus one or two.  This has been a great learning experience.  I am sure I will take another class in the future.
