Dressed Up Marci Birthday Card

June 12, 2013 was my niece's 30th birthday and I wanted to make her a special card.  I chose Dress Up Marci stamp from La La Land Crafts and colored her with my Copic markers.  I then Placed her on an embossed oval with dimensional tape to make her pop.  Adding flowers, pearls and lace added class to the card. Aahhh a special card for a special young and beautiful woman.

Easter Sunday

He has risen!  Blessing to you and your family.  I spent the day with my family (hubby, Zack, mom, sister and brother).  I cooked the ham, potatoes, vegetables, and desert and took it to my mom's for our Easter feast.  It was yummy and consumed quickly, not a lot of left overs.  After enjoying the Duke/Louisville basketball game we got down to business. . .Euchre!  My brother, Chuck, and I against my hubby and mom.  Chuck and I started out slow, loosing the first game, but we came back to take games two and three.  A little while latter we were joined by my brother. Roy, and sister-in-law, Karen.  Chatted and then time to head home (Zack had a migraine).  Although the weather was dreary we had a great day!  Love getting together with family and wish those not able to join us a very rejoiceful Easter.

Happy Easter

Pattern Play Day 4

Exceptional class, loving all of the inspiration, tips and cards shown in this class.  Pattern Play for day 4 included white washing bright patterns to tone them down, using smaller pieces of pattern paper and adding embellishment to them and using one piece of patterned paper as the card base.  I chose using small pieces of patterned paper cut into shapes.  It was fun trying to figure out how to arrange the pieces and what ones to use.  I went for various sizes of circles and created a Thank You card.  Only one more day of class unless we get a bonus one or two.  This has been a great learning experience.  I am sure I will take another class in the future.

Pattern Play Day 3

Day three of Pattern Play Class was full of new ideas.  One technique taught was to break up large patterns into strips and adding them to a card.  Below is my card demonstrating the technique, hope you like it.  Secondly we learned how to tone down bold papers using vellum.  It really adds a nice soft cover over the bright pattern, kinda whimsical.  Lastly by using small strips or banners cut from patterned paper and applying to a card base can be enough for the whole card, maybe with a little embellishment and a sentiment.  Two more days to go, enjoying this class so much.

Pattern Play Day 2

Second day of Pattern Play Class.  The videos have been very informative; many new ideas and ways to use patterned paper for cards and/or scrapbooking.  I love these step by step videos, not sure about the gray fingernail polish but that's about all I don't really like.  I guess I can comment on the nails since all you see of these fabulous designers are their hands. . .lol.  Today's first video focused on using background stamps to change the look of paper.  It's amazing to see the difference from original paper to ending ones.  The second technique used a mask to emphasize and create the vocal point for the card.  Thirdly paper piecing was used to create dimension on stamped images.  All three techniques are beautiful.  I focused my homework on the first technique.  What do you think of my finished cards?  I love the way they turned out.  Thanks for visiting.  More tomorrow for sure!

Card 1: Embossed Resist Technique

The bottom papers on the cards are embossed with a flower background stamp and then added color over the entire surface.  Such a great look, I am sure I will be using this technique often.

Pattern Play Class Day 1

I am enjoying taking an on-line class:  Pattern Play.  It is inspiring to see new ways to use patterned paper and stamps.  Our homework each day is to use one of the new techniques we've learned in class.  For day one I used the rule: bold, medium, blah to create a card.   My home work results are below.  Can't wait for more learning tomorrow.

Your the Best....SMILE

Awww, Sunday, a day to rest and reflect on the week past and ahead.  It was a busy week making many telephone calls trying to get things settled for our deceased cousin, sending letters, taking care of routine house duties and special visits with my mom.  I know I am blessed to be able to visit with my mom and help her as much as I can.  She is a special lady and always brings a smile to my face.  It is nice to hear her voice brighten when she knows it's me on the phone or paying her a visit.  When making the following cards I was thinking of her.  Next week I get to visit with her and brighten our spirits.  We are blessed with each other.

All About Love

I fell in love with "The Cats Pajamas, Clearly Swanky Stamps."  They are easy to color and the images are perfect stamped on card stock paper.  The cute little penguin on the card below is just one example of their cuteness.  My sons and daughter-in-law surprised me with a Spellbinder Grand Caliber that embosses and cuts designs out of paper.  What a great Christmas present, of course I love it and them!  Since this is a post about love I can't leave my wonderful hubby out of it.  He is absolutely my soul mate and best friend.   I have been blessed with a wonderful family (including my in-laws) and many awesome friends.  This card is for all of you. . . .

Chili Monday

Made chili for tonight's dinner to help take the chill out of the weather.  We finally have winter conditions and school delays and closings.  Went from the 50's to 30's in less than a day!  Gotta love how Michigan weather changes quickly!!  One card completed and hoping to get more done tonight.

Eary January

Traveled to Texas and started a new adventure.  Met wonderful people who helped us sort through documents and artwork.  Below is the card I made to thank them for their help and generosity while exploring and discovering.
